THE FRENCH LADIES - LESLIE + LESLIE

'We met here, Lesley1 was knitting and I was wearing a knitted scarf which caught her eye, what are the chances we had the same name, we were still chatting an hour later. We've been meeting up every Tuesday since' 

Lesley 1 (on the left) is a retired Army officer and Lesley 2 (right) a retired Child health nurse, both avid French enthusiast they wanted me to say that anyone interested in learning conversational French with them can join them at their Tuesday catch ups, usually in the morning over coffee and cake. 

'It's all very casual though, just schoolgirl French, we're just learning to ask where the toilet is!'  

THE EAGER BEAVER - LEE THE WINDOW GUY

'I think I've finally worked out the whole cafe culture thing, it's very social, I really love it. Everyone that comes here on a Friday has their own little routine, just like me' 

Lee is our window guy, he is part of the furniture... you see, we have a special deal, windows cleaned in exchange for a free cooked breakfast every Friday, it's been this way for nearly 5yrs, no money has ever exchanged hands.  We love that he is part of our family, we love that he tries out all our new dishes for us and that he loves every single one! we love that he talks sports with the Friday regulars, brings his own paper and leaves it behind when he is done, and we love that he does his own dishes and a few extra just because he wants to.  It's relationships like this that make our space special. 

EAST WYNYARD BEACH BUMS - FREDA + JOHN

Together 40yrs, these two are the best, the bees knees, the cats pajamas and such good company I could hang out with them all day.   I think it must be the accents! PS: I did check and the patient didn’t die as a result of these lovebirds ogling each other.

"I should'a known better"

So the story goes something like this: George has a bit of a hobby farm, he was attempting to do a graceful pirouette over one of the barbed wire fences, something he assures me he does all the time, except this time someone had magically and mysteriously put a large rock right where George landed, after months in a bright purple cast he is now looking at a knee replacement and a bit of time in the chair.  But always up for a chuckle he seems to be looking on the bright side....

Definitely a Bruce's Gold club member. Sparra is part of the furniture, except he has outlived most of the furniture at the caf.  We started making jokes that we were his office, but then we actually started to field phone calls asking for him.  If you ever need him,  Tues-Friday 3pm, without fail.
